Mittens and Lax - Blue vs. White Scrimmy

Hog Fam-

The club had it's second Blue vs. White Scrimmage of the year at Kell High School - Blue were "Mathletes from Georgia Tech", led by GK Matt Sommerfeldt; White was "PyeongChang Winter Olympics 2018", led by GK Matt McCarthy.

It was surely a cold day in Hell because everyone showed up promptly for the most part and no one flaked. Club played full sides with ample subs. The boys also got their new frosty mitts: Warrior Evo Pros and Brine King Elites. Pictures don't do them justice!

Mathletes took the game with a score of 7 - 1 over the Korean Winter Games. The Series is now tied 1 - 1. The winner gets beer pitchers at Taco Mac and a pic with Rupert the Hog.

The squad welcomed some new guests and players this past weekend: Stephen Dolbow (Mid), Andrew Taralongo (Mid), Jack Quinn (Def), Jeffrey Allar (Mid), Jake Sciotto (Def), Tanner Fant (Att). As always, if you're interested in playing lacrosse with our club, check out this page here.

Next event: Blue vs. White, 3 March 2018.

Here are some snaps - more pics on our Facebook page here.

Five Seasons of Hedgehogs

Hog Friends & Famiglia-

Four years ago today Lacrosse met our Hedgehog for the first time in a whistled game vs. The Ivy. We never expected our club to last as long as it has - from an experiment in "looking good" to a club that can handle 5 tourneys a year, a summer league and rent its own field.  There's more progress now with better organization, better equipment, and even more players.

This weekend the boys will hit the field to celebrate that day and compete for beer pitchers at Taco Mac. We're playing our monthly "Blue vs. White" scrimmage - one of us will even pretend to be a referee.

Teammates still with the club from that day: Jonathan Overman, Stephen Patch, Hunter Alexander, Marshall Hood, Tanner Bruton and Andrew Flood.

Here are some pics from February 13, 2014 for your perusal...

Hogs 2017 Season in the Lieberry

Hogs & Hog Friends-

With the frigid winter months of the South now upon us, we can look back on milestones of our fourth season:

Record: 14 - 5

++ 3 Local Games, 3 Tournaments, 2nd Atlanta Shootout for Soldiers ++

++ Runner Up 2x, Semi-Finalist ++

++ Home Field at Carlton J. Kell High School ++

Next year will be another milestone - our 5th Anniversary. The Hogs will have even more extra swag in the new year as we look to play in 4 to 5 tournaments, join the Atlanta Lacrosse League this coming summer and host 6 months of pickup at our field.

Solid times on and off the field this year - best season yet. If you're interested in playing for East Cobb, look here.

We'll be back out there at Kell in February.

Hogs finish 2017 Season at Myrtle Beach's Swamp Fox Shootout

Wicked good time, huge performance out of the squad - in the 'Ship but came up short in OT. That OT was hard earned - we were down 6-2 and scored 4 unanswered goals, including a buzzer beater by Casey Minick at full time. Stout goaltending by Matt Sommerfeldt and clutch goals by Casey and Clark Akers kept us in it.

Here are some milestones:
1- First ever East Cobb shutout of a team (Dirty Myrtle) - 17 - 0
2- First ever 7 game tournament. 6:1
3- 62 gf vs 30 ga
4- At least 150 beers consumed at the Hog Manor

We were better than the team we lost to - just came up short. We also played 3! games on the day before the Ship - including one "by accident" vs. the Jacksonville Juice. That said, we brought 20 players to Myrtle and I'd say everyone had a damn good time. All pics are here.

Solid showing to start Fall Pickup

Fall Pick-up at Kell is now in full swing. We had 28 players on the field yesterday, with two goalkeepers and a back-up Hector the Rejector just in case.

We're continuing these until October 28th -- and have one last free (but donations encouraged) pick-up this month on September 30th. Wives, girlfriends, kids all welcome - we had a handful of kids at the field (plenty of space) yesterday, some fiddle-stixx and goals and balls etc.

If you are able to make it out next weekend, please bring a gallon of water. There is no hose at the field.

As a reminder, next edition:

Location:       Carlton J. Kell High School (map below)
